Hello WSLS…
For this presidential message I will keep it short and
sweet.
The WSLS board is looking for nominations for President
Elect, and Directors At Large, please email your nomination to Past President
James Wallen.
On a more personal note, I would like to ask the membership
to take time for a little outreach beyond the survey community. Lately the Land Surveying profession is
falling out of touch with other professions.
Technological advancement makes it easier for other professionals to
feel that a surveyor is not necessary and that they may perform certain tasks
themselves. We need to remind these
professions what benefits the Professional Surveyor brings their communities.
One way you could achieve this is by contacting your local county GIS
department and request a visit to talk about concerns that you may have with
the program and also discuss the benefits that the program brings to the survey
profession. Another way is to attend a local Builders
Association and discuss issues and concerns that you may have with the
construction community or how you as a surveyor my aid in construction issues.
Enjoy the early summer we are having and please try and make
it to the summer meeting for some WSLS fun.
