    Civil Engineering Survey Technician Position

    Cooper Engineering Company, Inc., an employee‐owned civil engineering firm in Rice Lake, WI, is currently accepting applications for a civil engineering survey technician position to work in both public and private industries. Rice Lake is a vibrant rural community located in the heart of Wisconsin’s Northwoods, offering four seasons of woods and water opportunities to outdoor enthusiasts, a growing regional medical hub, two public colleges, and surprising opportunities in the arts.

    Successful applicants will join our experienced team members completing engineering design and construction projects primarily throughout northwestern Wisconsin and occasionally in nearby states. Recent and pending graduates in civil engineering survey technician or survey related programs are encouraged to apply for the civil engineering survey technician position.

    Qualified candidates will demonstrate competent technical skills, knowledge of civil engineering, survey and construction concepts, principles, and practices. Strong communication skills, a strong sense of integrity and goal setting, a cooperative attitude, and on‐going desires to learn and help clients, necessary. Efficiency in AutoCAD and Trimble GPS a plus.

    Education requirements include an Associate Degree in a civil engineering survey technician or related program, or comparable work experience, knowledge of Microsoft Office, ability to read and understand construction engineering plans, and strong math skills.

    Position requires ability to occasionally carry up to 50 pounds of equipment or materials over rough surfaces in developed and undeveloped terrain. Work is completed in outdoor settings during all four seasons, along with indoors as needed to process survey data and assist project design teams.

    Candidate must have a valid driver’s license. A professional land surveyor license is not required for the applicant, but encouraged to pursue requirements obtain professional land surveyor license.  Project management and/or construction experience is desired but not necessary.
