All WSLS members are invited to submit maps and plats to the WSLS Map/Plat Competition.  Submissions can either be freehand or computer drafted maps completed after June 1, 2023. Entries must be submitted by a WSLS member by December 7, 2024 via the form below. Emailed or mailed forms can be found here.

PRIZES: Winners will receive cash prizes of $50 for first place in each category, $25 for second and $10 for third. There must be at least three entries in a category before prizes are awarded. The first-place winners in each category maybe submitted to the NSPS Design Competition with WSLS covering the entry fee.

RULES: Please fill out a separate entry form for each map or plat. The entries may have a maximum size of 34” x 44”.  Entries must submit one paper copy, folded, and one digital copy.  Judges will view the digital map while the paper copy will be displayed to the membership either at the Institute or at an alternate site. Submissions must be a single drawing. They may originate as a set but must be submitted as a single sheet, except for subdivision plats and CSM where all sheets must be included but only one will be displayed. No more than one entry in each category or subcategory from any one company or member. Send your entries to the Executive Director at the address below by December 7, 2024.

The decisions of the judges are final. Entries will be judged on:

1. Content
2. Data relevance 
3. Accuracy of scale
4. Layout innovation
5. Interpretability
6. Applicability
7. Neatness in presentation
8. Adherence to the minimum standards for surveys in Wisconsin or other standards including NSPS Model Standards, and ALTA Standards.

ANNOUNCEMENT: All entries will be displayed in the Exhibit Hall at the Kalahari. Winners will be announced at the Thursday lunch at the Institute.
