Seiler Geospatial / WSLS Foundation Scholarships

Scholarship

Seiler Geospatial and the WSLS Foundation are pleased to sponsor up to eight $1000 Scholarships* provided to Wisconsin Residence attending one of the seven Wisconsin or an out of state institution focusing on land surveying.  These scholarships encourage surveying students to engage with local Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors (WSLS) chapters. Applying for these scholarships provides many benefits including exposure to potential employers. Scholarship will be presented to recipients at a local chapter meeting of of their choice.

*A scholarship recipient will receive a $500 award. An additional $500 will be awarded to recipients who attend a local chapter meeting before the application deadline and provide proof of attendance.

The following Schools will have one of these scholarships available to students completing a Land Surveying focused program:

  • Northeast Wisconsin Technical College
  • Madison Area Technical College
  • Milwaukee Area Technical College
  • Fox Valley Technical College
  • Mid-State Technical College
  • Gateway Technical College
  • Northcentral Technical College
  • A Wisconsin resident attending an out-of-state program offering an associate or bachelor's degree with a focus in Land Surveying.

Eligibility

  1. Wisconsin Resident;
  2. Attending one of the Wisconsin Programs focusing on Land Surveying or an out-of-state program offering an associate or bachelor's degree with a focus in Land Surveying.;

    To Apply

    All application material must be submitted digitally.

    To apply for a scholarship, follow these steps:

    1. You will need to complete a scholarship application at the "Apply Here" link at the bottom of this page. You must sign in with an active Google Account to complete this application.

    2. Request a Letter of Recommendation from one of your program instructors; a second letter may also be requested and submitted by an individual that can speak about your work experience or other scholarship specific qualifications. Letter(s) are to be emailed directly to wslsscholarship@gmail.com by the letter author. IT IS THE APPLICANT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY LETTER AUTORS IN A TIMELY MANNER AND TO ENSURE THAT THE LETTER HAS BEEN DELIVERED BY THE AUTHOR ON TIME.

    3. Obtain a digital version of an official transcript from your current school. A transcript available only in printed form must be scanned. Be sure to request the transcript early to ensure it arrives before the application deadline. If only an unofficial transcript is available, it may be sent instead but must be clearly marked Unofficial Transcript. Transcripts can either be uploaded to the scholarship application or be sent directly to wslsscholarship@gmail.com.

    4. Obtain proof of local chapter meeting attendance. Applicants may provide a written statement from a chapter board member, official meeting minutes, or other substantial proof of attendance. WSLS Education Committee will determine if proof is sufficient for eligibility and may request additional content from the applicant.

    5. Selection Process, the Education Committee will select Scholarship Recipients based on chapter participation, academics, references, content of scholarship question answers, and involvement in professional and student organizations. All application materials must be received by March 1st. Incomplete applications will not be considered for a scholarship. If you have questions, please contact wslsscholarship@gmail.com.

    Seiler Instrument also appreciates the WSLS Foundation for working with us to establish the Annual Seiler Geospatial Scholarship. This scholarship is one of eight $2,500 scholarships awarded yearly at the WSLS Annual Institute. Seiler Geospatial has awarded scholarships like this since 2006 and encourages students to submit an application.
